Giant Schnauzer Puppy Training

At Aufhocker Giant Schnauzers, we help families select the Giant Schnauzer puppy that best fits their lifestyle. Whether you are looking for a male or female, high-energy or lower-energy temperament, a Velcro companion or a more self-sufficient dog, we carefully match each puppy to the right home.

Our Giant Schnauzer puppies are priced at $5,000, with a $500 non-refundable deposit required to reserve your pup. Puppies can be met by appointment in person or through video chat for families at a distance. We also guarantee that any puppy purchased from us can be returned at any time if you are unable to provide care, as we are committed to every dog for life.

While there are less expensive breeders, our puppies are an investment in quality and development. From the moment they are born, we begin proactive puppy development that sets us apart. This includes early neurological stimulation, auditory exposure, and introduction to different textures and environments. These exercises strengthen neural pathways at a critical stage of growth, shaping each puppy for success in obedience, protection, companionship, or show.

Unlike breeders who attempt to force early protection or aggression training, we respect the natural instincts of the Giant Schnauzer. This breed is inherently protective of their family and home, and they do not require attack-based training to serve as effective guardians. Instead, we focus on building confident, balanced, and well-socialized dogs.

Because Giant Schnauzers are large, intelligent, and powerful, they require consistent structure. Without proper training, they can become destructive. Early and ongoing obedience training is essential to build a healthy, trusting relationship. For families who want additional support, we offer extended training programs designed to produce reliable, disciplined companions that are prepared for advanced obedience or specialized roles.

Why Puppy Training Matters for Giant Schnauzers

The Giant Schnauzer is not your average puppy. Unlike smaller or more passive breeds, these dogs grow rapidly, both physically and mentally. By the time a Giant Schnauzer reaches six months of age, they are already strong enough to challenge their owners if boundaries are unclear.

  • Early training prevents behavioral problems before they start.

  • Puppies exposed to structure and consistency develop confidence.

  • Socialization reduces fearfulness and prepares them for family life.

  • Proper guidance sets the stage for obedience and, later, advanced training.

By investing in puppy training now, owners save themselves years of correcting bad habits later.

Housebreaking and Crate Training

One of the first challenges new puppy owners face is housebreaking. At Aufhocker, we make this process simple and effective through crate training.

  • Puppies learn that the crate is a safe, comfortable den.

  • A consistent schedule teaches bladder control and routine.

  • Positive reinforcement encourages quick adaptation.

Crate training not only helps with housebreaking but also builds independence. A crate-trained Giant Schnauzer feels secure when left alone and travels more comfortably.

Early Obedience Skills

Giant Schnauzers are thinkers—they learn quickly, but they also test boundaries. Teaching basic obedience from the start prevents unwanted habits.

Our puppy obedience curriculum includes:

  • Sit, stay, come, and down

  • Leash manners (preventing pulling and lunging)

  • Name recognition for focus and engagement

  • Gentle handling for grooming and vet visits

These lessons give puppies the tools to behave in both home and public environments.

Socialization and Confidence Building

A well-socialized Giant Schnauzer is a joy to own. Without exposure, they can become territorial or shy. That’s why socialization is a key element of our puppy program.

  • Puppies meet people of different ages and backgrounds.

  • Safe, supervised interactions with other dogs teach boundaries.

  • Exposure to sights, sounds, and environments reduces anxiety.

The goal is to create a balanced, confident dog who can handle life’s surprises with calm composure.

Positive Reinforcement and Play-Based Learning

Puppy training should be fun. We use positive reinforcement techniques, pairing rewards with commands to make learning enjoyable.

  • Treats, praise, and toys are used as motivators.

  • Training sessions are short and engaging.

  • Puppies learn to love training, which builds lifelong enthusiasm.

When training feels like play, puppies absorb lessons faster and develop a strong bond with their handler.

Preparing for Advanced Training

Our puppy program is not just about today, it’s about tomorrow. Every command, every socialization session, and every crate experience prepares your Giant Schnauzer for the next stage of life.

Whether your goal is a well-mannered family companion, an obedience competitor, or a personal protection dog, early training ensures your dog is ready to advance with confidence.
